LA QUINTA, Calif. - La Quinta Resort & Club and PGA WEST, a Waldorf Astoria Resort, announced the appointment of Lynne Rolley as Executive Director of Tennis, effective December 15, 2015.  Rolley will be responsible for the leadership and oversight of all tennis operations at La Quinta Resort & Club including instruction, clinics, seasonal tennis camps and educational/social programs serving the 776-guestroom resort and members of The Citrus Club at La Quinta Resort.   Consistently ranked one of the top tennis resorts in the U.S., by Tennis Magazine, La Quinta's state-of-the-art facility includes 23 courts (5 Har-Tru clay, 18 hard courts) and signature tournament-style stadium center court, as well as a pro shop and Center Court Cafe.

A USPTA certified teaching professional with more than 40 years of instruction and coaching expertise, Rolley previously served as Director of Tennis at Berkeley Tennis Club in Berkeley, California where she was responsible for all member operations since 2007.   She also held posts as Tournament Director for the Girls' 18 & Under National Championships and the Pacific Coast Senior & Family National Championships.  Her lifelong passion turned career also included posts as Director of Women's Tennis for the United States Tennis Association (USTA) wherein she coached Jennifer Capriati and U.S. Open winner Lindsey Davenport to center court.  Rolley was also Director of Programs for the USTA's Player Development including collegiate tennis.  She is also the first woman to coach a men's NCAA collegiate tennis team in the U.S., early in her career at St. Mary's College in Moraga, California.

"We're pleased to have Lynne as part of our team given her tenure with USTA and strength in both operations and instruction," notes Paul Cherrett, managing director of La Quinta Resort & Club.  "She brings a fresh, strategic approach to our world-class facility and will ensure both members and guests receive top-flight instruction and services."

Ranked in the top ten as a junior player in the USTA, Rolley resides in Palm Desert and is a certified PTR and USPTA Elite Pro 1, member of the ITF International Coaches Commission and 2008 inductee into the Northern California Tennis Hall of Fame.

La Quinta Resort Tennis Club - Background
In 1937, legendary coach Fred Renker joined La Quinta as the resort's first tennis professional, training such luminaries as Gary Cooper, Lana Turner and Jane Wyman.  The Tennis Club is well steeped in celebrity cachet, hosting a Who's Who of players from Pancho Gonzales and Tracy Austin to fundraising events showcasing Will Farrell and Justin Bieber.  In 1978 a consortium of former players - led by Charlie Pasarell, Tom Gorman, Arthur Ashe, Stan Smith, Bob Lutz, Marty Riessen, Roscoe Tanner and Dennis Ralston - set out to create one of the premier tennis facilities in the U.S.  The Club's success is a statement to the legends behind it as well as its national spotlight as original host of the BNP Paribas Open and most recently, the celebrity-fueled Desert Smash.  A total of 23 courts grace the resort, including five Har-Tru clay courts and signature tournament-style stadium center court, as well as a pro shop and Centre Court Cafe.  The full service facility and club offers top-notch instruction led by a team of USPTA-certified professionals, cardio tennis and junior and adult clinics throughout the year.
