ROME, Italy - Rome Cavalieri, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, a five-star deluxe hotel overlooking the Eternal City, has launched the "Something Borrowed" program to assist brides with fulfilling a part of the tradition of wearing "something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue" on their wedding day. Brides who choose the Cavalieri to serve as the backdrop for their special day are afforded the opportunity to borrow jewelry designed by Italian Princesses Lucia Odescalchi and Grazia Borghese, whose pieces range from €1,000 to €100,000.

Once the couple has confirmed Rome Cavalieri as the site for their nuptials and celebration, brides will work closely with the Cavalieri and the princesses' studios to obtain look books containing images of each designer's signature collection. Brides will choose an elaborate piece that is reflective of her personal style and worthy of such a special occasion, such as: earrings, necklaces, bracelets, brooches or other adornments. Upon arrival in Rome, brides will have the option visit the princesses' studios for a viewing and to arrange any additional requests or changes. On the day prior to the wedding, the bride will choose to have the jewelry delivered or picked up to be borrowed for a 48-hour period.*

Both of the princesses' collections evoke non-traditional notions of bridal jewelry allowing brides that wed at the Cavalieri to display her uniqueness on her wedding day.

Each piece in Princess Lucia Odescalchi's collection is inspired by her own personal style shown by artistic and creative materials the meld into striking shapes and patterns. In essence, the designs harmonize with the wearer. Crafted from a variety of natural and cultured materials, such as Mabè pearls, bronze, gold, fossils, meteorites, wood and Neolithic arrow heads, Princess Odescalchi's unusual combinations create a stunning, linear and fluid effect. Clientele includes notable Italians in fashion and high-society circles. In the United States, the collection is available for purchase at Barneys New York. Signature pieces from Princess Odescalchi's collection perfect for brides include 18k gold voluptas brown diamond chandelier-style earrings and long hanging white gold earrings with diamonds.

It was a family heirloom, a small jewelry case covered in silk velvet that still has imprints of past jewels, which first moved Princess Grazia Borghese to design jewelry. The jewelry case was a wedding present for Paolina Bonaparte, celebrating her marriage to Camillo Borghese. Princess Borghese believes a jewel is an instrument, a precious object that tells a story of the person who wears it, a balance between past and future. In her designs, Borghese marries precious stones and raw materials into a goldsmith art that is somewhat experimental. Ornaments are set, chiseled and carefully hidden so that they may transform into something else. Princess Borghese's exclusive lines have been featured at Rome's Fashion Week and Gattinoni Italian Fashion House. Examples of Princess Borgheses' collection best suited for weddings include: a gold necklace with diamonds, floral-designed pink coral and crystal and a white gold necklace with a hanging pearl.

The Rome Cavalieri, set in a lush 15-acre Mediterranean park overlooking the rooftops of Rome, offers one of the most romantic locations in the city for weddings. Guests can choose from one of the stylish and versatile reception rooms, including the newly $10-million renovated Salone dei Cavalieri.
